Links to find the best campsites and information….

With France offering so much choice when it comes to finding a place to stay, we have listed below a few links to make the job a little easier.

There is no one truly comprehensive online guide to the campsites of France but these two websites show a good choice of campsites if you need to book ahead.

www.campingfrance.com

www.francecamping.org

Also, in France, the websites of regional tourism boards and tourist information offices (in individual towns) will have comprehensive campsite and “Aire de Service” listings for their area (as well as information on what to do, events etc.).  Search online for the “Office de Tourisme” for any specific town in France or for campsites/information for a whole region, visit a regional tourism board.  Here is our page showing the regional tourism boards in France: Regional tourist boards

If you don’t want to plan and book ahead, don’t forget there will be a comprehensive guidebook for campsites, “Aire de Service” halts and “France Passion” halts in your campervan when you arrive.

Fancy a trip to the Snow…..

Fancy a trip to the Snow…..

From downhill, Alpine skiing to cross-country and snowboarding – the region’s winter-sports facilities in full…

It is often assumed that the Alpes-Maritimes mountains are too close to the Côte d’Azur with its mild winters to offer any serious skiing options however the high altitudes and favourable weather conditions can make skiing possible right through until April.

The largest resorts in the region are Isola 2000, Auron and Valberg/Beuil but there are many small resorts that offer competitively priced lift passes and are in easy reach for a day or weekend trip.

There are 465 peaks over 2,000 meters in the region with, towards the Italian border, six peaks standing over 3,000 metres.

  • Walking: If you are walking up or down a slope, keep to the side
  • Signs: Always take note of and respect signs concerning slope and weather conditions
  • Overtaking: You may overtake above or below a slower skier, or to the left or right of them, but only if there is enough space to do so
  • Assistance: If you witness or cause an accident, you must stop to give help, and make yourself available to rescue teams or the Piste Patrol

Modern Luxury VW California

Modern Luxury VW California

The Ultimate Camper.

The VW California is the first and only factory built, purpose built camper van by Volkswagen. Despite the Volkswagen brand being synonymous with camper vans, all previous incarnations were after market conversions – until now.

The VW California offers complete motoring comfort. It’s car like dimensions, means it fits in to multi story and supermarket car parks with ease and costs the same as a car when on the motorway or at the fuel station. It is a pleasure to drive on a daily basis around town or on long motoring trips.

The VW California is extremely well equipped as standard. It includes a refrigerator, two burner hob, sink with running water, two front ‘captains’ chairs which swivel 360, a sliding rear bench seat on rails, which is removable and folds down flat ‘rock and roll style’ to form a large double bed. There is an on-board computer system which controls various displays, the temperature of the refrigerator box, the temperature and timings for the auxiliary heating system, the water levels in the fresh water tank and waste water tanks, the battery levels and not least of all, the electric elevating roof. With the roof fully elevated there is full standing height within the van, or a further, surprisingly large, double sleeping area. The van is superbly designed, packed full of features and clever storage. There is a folding table in the van, and a removable table and chairs cleverly stowed in the boot lid and sliding side door.

This user friendly and future classic VW california is the ultimate camper van to escape with your partner, friends or family.
